Utility Bills
You will need to set up accounts for electricity, water, council tax, broadband, and gas once you've moved into your new home. When your tenancy has started, we will have sent you a Move-In Inventory Report containing the initial meter readings and the Meter Serial Number (also known as MSN) and you will need to set up accounts with your chosen providers independently.
Your Move-In Report is sent via InventoryHive.co.uk so do check your junk inbox if you have not received it, if you cannot find the link let us know and we can resend the invitation!
- Electricity: Use this link to find the current supplier information to open an account or shop around to find the best rate/deals. You are welcome to change electricity providers
- Gas: Middlewood Locks is on a central gas boiler system designed to be cost-effective for all residents and offers live meter readings (large black box in utility room above washing machine) You can set up a new account with Ista via this link
- Water: Your water supply is provided by United Utilities.
- Internet: Your apartment is already equipped with a Hyperoptic router in the utility cupboard. If you are happy with this provider simply activate the service via this link.
- Council Tax: You need to tell Salford City Council that you are living at the property, even if you are a student. You may be entitled to Council Tax Discount or exemption if you are a single tenant, or your household has a mixture of students and working professionals.
How to get up-to-date meter readings for your apartment
- Electricity: The electric meter for your apartment is in a locked meter room, to gain up to date readings please email the building manager (rbombardiere@lsh.co.uk) with information on your building name and apartment number so they can offer you the information
- Gas: The gas meter is in your utility cupboard (large black box in the utility room above the washing machine) click through the screen menu to find your readings at any time
- Water: The water meter is in your utility cupboard
TIP: If you know someone who is already on Hyperoptic, ask them to refer you and you both may receive signing bonuses!
TIP: We suggest performing an energy comparison search to find the best rates/deals for your electricity or internet – this has the potential to save you a lot of money! Unfortunately you cannot change suppliers for Gas.
Parking at Middlewood Locks
If you have paid for parking with your tenancy, we will assign a parking space for you to use. This space is dedicated to your vehicle and we will need your license plate details so Middlewood Locks can update the ANPR system which is a camera that reads your license plate as you enter the underground or surface car park - reach out to us to check your parking space bay location and number.
Access to the underground parking garage is under Forge building with access just off Rolling Street via black gates to the right-hand side, access to the surface car park is just off Lockside Lane to the right-hand side.
Visitors and tenants are welcome to use the outdoor street layby bays for parking, with a maximum stay of up to three hours. To make sure your parking is validated, they’ll just need to pop into the Security Office in the Quarry building and register their vehicle registration number by entering it into the tablet located in the corridor.
If you would like to request parking at Middlewood Locks, feel free to email us at tenants@beecityliving.co.uk and we'll see if we have any availability!
Cycle Storage at Middlewood Locks
Secure cycle storage has been provided to all residents and the bike store can be found on the ground floor of the Charcoal building or in the underground car park of Forge/Bellows. You can use your electronic key fob to gain access. Bicycles are stored at your own risk and should be fitted with a secure lock and appropriately insured against theft.
Security at Middlewood Locks
There is onsite security who can be contacted on 07955853970; please only use this in emergencies relating to on-site security. Do remember that on-site security does not work for Bee City Living and all issues relating to your tenancy should come to us.
Refuse disposal at Middlewood Locks
Each building will have a communal bin room access for residents on either the ground floor or the basement level. All waste should be tied securely in appropriate bin liners, and the appropriate bin should be used for general waste or recycling.
Ventilation in your apartment
A Vent-Axia Sentinel Kinetic Plus ventilation with heat recovery system has been fitted in your apartment. This system works by constantly bringing fresh air and removing old, stale air, whilst retaining up to 90% of the heat. The fan automatically goes into boost mode when a bathroom light is switched on or if the boost switch in the kitchen is turned on.
This system should not be turned off in any circumstances as it helps prevent condensation buildup from occurring, which, if turned off, will create a build-up of mildew and mould damage to the property.
